A wonderful tour of subtle, gentle words that sink deep into hearts, in the areas where the great poet Yehuda Amichai worked, wrote and lived — from Abu Tor and Yemin Moshe to the Valley of Hinnom, Mamilla, and Jaffa Gate. We will encounter the best of Amichai’s poetry and his unique worldview. Amihai conducted an in-depth dialogue with the Bible and Midrash, with faith and secularism. He was blessed with the rare ability to express in seemingly simple everyday language the intricacy and nuances of life in this complex and wonderful city.
We will move back and forth between the English texts and the original Hebrew. We will marvel at Amihai’s ingenious wordplay and begin to understand some of the layers and depths of the Hebrew language.
